On October 27, 2013 McGrath’s Pub in Harrisburg, PA hosted a “Chins Up for Charity” where their grisly male employees and patrons became baby-face boys again after agreeing to have their beards shaved. In exchange for foregoing shaving for weeks, participants raised donations to benefit the National Collegiate Cancer Foundation.
McGrath’s teamed up with the Lords and Ladies Salon located on 2nd street in downtown Harrisburg. Master Designer Michael Lawler and Stylist Megan Heisey preformed the tasks of shaving the beards of almost two dozen men.
Co-organizer from McGrath’s Pub Kevin Zimmerman says, “It’s more of a collaborate effort, a lot of people were growing their beards out, they were getting pretty long, we decided why not shave them off for charity. We came up with the idea to do National Collegiate Cancer Foundation and it kind of just went from there.” The event raised $5,500 for NCCF’s scholarship program.
