Mission
The National Collegiate Cancer Foundation’s mission is to provide services and support to young adults who have been diagnosed with or impacted by cancer. Our goal is to help these survivors and their families establish a “Will Win” attitude in their fight.
NCCF is committed to providing need-based financial support to young adult survivors who are pursuing higher education throughout their treatment and beyond through our Survivor and Legacy scholarships. Furthermore, the Foundation promotes awareness and prevention of cancer within the young adult community.
NCCF is one of the only national organizations to provide direct financial assistance to young adults with cancer. We are an all-volunteer organization.
NCCF is an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (Tax ID 26-1336211).
About the Young Adult Cancer Community
Adolescent & Young Adults (AYAs) continue to be challenged with countless issues specific to their demographic- delayed diagnosis, access to health insurance, access to clinical trials, fertility issues, employment concerns, and isolation. As a result of the complexity of these complex issues, AYAs are one of the most under-served populations of people affected by cancer. Consider the following:
- 89,000+ young adults are diagnosed with cancer every year
- A cancer diagnosis between the ages of 15 and 39 is nearly eight times more common than such a diagnosis during the first 15 years of life
- Every 8 minutes a young adult is diagnosed with cancer in the United States
- Despite advances in early detection, treatment, and prevention, there’s been no improvement survival rates for AYAs for 30 years
- 1 out of every 100 college students is a cancer survivor
- Of the 400+ cancer organizations in the US, very few focus specifically on young adults and only a handful provide direct financial assistance
